IX Carrera Solidaria Entreculturas

The ninth edition of this charity run takes place in the West area of Malaga, from the Athletic Stadium to Pacífico street, and back. The funds are destined to guaranteeing the right to education for all people, especially in the poorest areas of Latin America, Africa and Asia.
MLK Tráil & Tahermo

The seventh edition of this night race flanks the most emblematic landmarks in Malaga, such as the Roman Theatre, the Alcazaba, Picasso’s birthplace and the Castle of Gibralfaro. Besides, this race’s supportive facet helps rais funds for local projects such as Corazones Malagueños and Una Cima Una Sonrisa.
Media Maratón “Caixa Bank” Ciudad de Málaga

The new itinerary comes back for the 30th edition of the half marathon in the city of Malaga. The race’s departure and finish line will be in the Paseo del Parque, and the official start is at 9:30 in the morning. Tickets are at €25, and the maximum number of people that can sign up is 7,500.
Zurich Maratón Málaga
Tickets are sold at €40 for the 11th edition of Malaga marathon. For the third year in a row, runners will also be able to run a half marathon. The event will take on the whole city of Malaga, from the West to the East district, and passing through the city centre. Prizes will be awarded to the first five people that will reach the finish line.

The province of Malaga welcomes several other running events, such as the following.
Media Maratón de Alhaurín de la Torre

A half marathon and a 5-km and a 10-km races are taking place in Alhaurín de la Torre on January 12th, starting at 10 am. Shorter runs of 1.5 km and 400 metres are also available for the littlest ones. The maximum number is 1000 people, 600 for the half marathon and 400 for the other races. €20 is the inscription for the half marathon and €10 for the race.
Trail de Manilva

The second edition of the Trail de Manilva features a longer race, of km 25 with a cumulated gradient of mt. 1,700, and a shorter run of km 14 and a cumulated slope of mt. 1,100. €20 is the ticket for this race that starts at 10:30 am, requires a minimum age of 21, and a maximum number of 400 people registered.
Trail Desafío la Capitana

The Trail La Capitana is organised by the Club de Atletismo Rincón de la Victoria. The eighth edition features a new, shorter race of 16km, in addition to the 25-km one. Prices are €23 for the 16-km race and €28 for the longer run; the maximum number of inscriptions is 650. The start is at the beach of Torre de Bengalgabón and the finish line at the Pabellón Deportivo Municipal in Torre de Benalgabón.
Acinipo Ultrafondo Ronda
Km: 45 and 20

The seventh edition of the Trail and Ultratrail in Acinipo is part of the Liga Rondeña de Ultrafondo. The start and finish line are at the Paseo Central Alameda del Tajo, and two races will take place. The shorter one is 20-km long, whereas the longer one is 45-km long and can be run alone or in 3-member teams. Signing-up costs between €23 and €36, depending on the race you want to tackle and the moment you sign up.
Tráil Álora

The fifth edition of Trail Alora also features two races. The “Sierra de Aguas” Ultra-Trail, with 53 km and departure at 8:30 am, and the “Monte Hacho” Trail, a shorter version of 17 km and departure at 9 am. Both races leave from Fuente Arriba for a total of 750 runners (400 for the Ultra-Trail and 350 for the Trail). Besides, this race is the see of the Campeonato de Andalucía de Tráil.
Media Maratón Internacional de Torremolinos

The 31st edition of the half marathon of Torremolinos‘ point of departure is the Estadio Municipal, at 9:30 am. Because the maximum number of runners is 2,000, you should hurry up and book one of the last places before January 30th.
CXM Sierra Blanca

The seventh edition of the mountain race will touch the towns of Marbella, Ojén and Monda, leaving from the square Monseñor Rodrigo Bocanegra. Three types of runs are included in CXM Sierra Blanca: the 43-km marathon and the 30-km one, whose finish line is at the Parque Vigil de Quiñones; and the shorter, 13-km race that ends in the Plaza de Andalucía in Ojén. Respectively, 300, 400 and 300 runners are admitted, with a registration cost of €40, 35 and 20.
Tráil San Valentín de Montejaque

The closeness of Saint Valentine’s Day is the perfect chance to engage in this “lovely” race, which takes place together with the 4th Marcha Senderista San Valentín. Both races start at 11 am from the Pabellón Deportivo of Montejaque. The Trail San Valentín can be run alone or in couples, who have to get to the finish line together. Individual registration cost €18, and for couples, it will be €30.
Jimera 3 tráils

To be granted the possibility to participate, you have to be at least 21 years old and prove to have successfully completed a mountain marathon, or a previous edition fo the Jimera 3 Trails. The three stages are the 27.7-km Real Tesoro at 9:30 am, the 12.5-km La Noche at 8 pm, and the 31-km Libar at 10:20 am of the following day.
Tráil Ruta del Vino de Ronda

Six hundred people can take part in the second edition of the Trail Ruta del Vino de Ronda, whose start line is at the Alameda del Tajo at 10 am. The race develops through dirt tracks and wineries that belong to the Denomination of Origin “Vinos de Málaga”. The finish line is at the Lunares Winery, and you can sign up until February 13th, for €15.
Calamorro Skyrace

The 11th edition of the Calamorro Skyrace welcomes up to 1000 runners. The race is divided into two: the 27-km Calamorro Skyrace, in which only the federates can take part; and the 17-km CXM Calamorro, open to everyone. Both races develop in the Sierra de Benalmádena, and the event also features shorter races, adapted to the differently aged runners.
Media Maratón Alhaurín el Grande Monumental

The second edition of this race will welcome up to 500 runners, who can sign up until February 9th for €15, and until February 15th for €20. The start and finish line are at the Polideportivo Municipal, and a €250 prize awaits the winner.
Media Maratón Rural Villa de Mijas

The fourth edition of this half marathon starts at 10 am from the terrace facing the Decathlon. February 28th is a festive day in Andalucia, and this is why the race is celebrated on a Friday. Registrations cost €10, and you have time until February 26th to book yourself a place.
Desafío Las Cumbres

The fifth edition of this race takes place in Arriate, and it features two categories: the 28-km and the 15-km race, as well as a shorter one for kids (Desafío Kids). Up to 400 runners can sign up for the race until February 23rd (prices range from €20 to €30).
Media Maratón Álora – Valle del Sol

The 22nd edition of one of the best-ranked running events in the province of Malaga starts at 10 am. Its itinerary is included in the Federación Andaluza de Atletismo (Andalusian Federation of Athletics), and up to 400 people can sign up until January 31st for €10, and February 25th for €15.
Carrera Litoral Holiday World de Benalmádena

All the money raised by this spring race is destined to the Malaga-based ONG “Proyecto Hombre”, which helps people with drug and alcohol addictions. The 1,500 participants can choose the length of the race they want to take part in; all three of them flank the beaches of Benalmádena. Prices are €12 for adults and €6 for kids. And to top it all, at the end of the race, a paella will help you recover your strengths!
Tráil Cártama Sierra Los Espartales – Pico del Águila
The 23-km CXM Pico del Águila and the 15-km CXM Los Espartales leave from the Ciudad Depórtiva de Cártama on March 8th, to lead the runners through a 1.200-mt slope around Cartama (600-mt slope for the 15-km race). Registrations are available until March 1st at the cost of €13-23.
V Tráil XII Pilares de Montecorto

The start (10 am) and finish lines are in the Plaza de Andalucía in Montecorto, and the two races that compose the Trail accept a maximum of 350 runners for the 24-km race, and 250 for the 13-km. You have time until March 11th to pay €20 for the longer race and €15 for the shorter one.
101 kilómetros de la Legión de Ronda
The 24-hour marathon is one of the most famous in Andalucia. It’s difficult to do and not easy to sign up too. The 7,000 runners face a 101-km race during a whole 24 hours, thus including the night, and stretches through private properties. There are three categories (individual, team, and MTB). The race starts on Saturday, at 11 am. The pre-inscription grant access to the final raffle to have the possibility of competing in the race. The 2,625 MTB places are assigned on January 4th, the 3,150 individual places on January 11th and the 800 Team places on January 25th.
Tráil extrema Sierras de Montejaque
Km: 16

The starting hour is 9:30 from the Plaza de Montejaque, and the third edition of this race lets you enjoy the beautiful landscape of the Natural Park of Grazalema for a €15 registration. The Club de Marchadores de Montejaque organises it.

Hi Fergal, every year Malaga welcomes the “Carrera Urbana Ciudad de Málaga” at the end of October. The exact date has not been confirmed yet, but in 2018, it was on October 22nd. Best regards 🙂

Hi Cathy, there are still no running events planned for the dates you mention. However, the dates of the 10-km “Carrera Urbana Solidaria Ciudad de Málaga” have not been confirmed yet, so it may happen during this weekend, too (for the time being, this running event is planned for October 20th).
