Description
Holiday house for 15 people in Casabermeja, Province of Málaga, Andalusia.
In the 18th century, Malaga was famous for its wines and spirits, exported all over the world and mainly to England. In 1878, with the arrival of grape phylloxera (a grapevine disease) from France, the vines were destroyed and, as a consequence, the inhabitants of the mountains of Malaga were forced to abandon their wineries in search of a new way of life.
For this reason, the wine presses were left in ruins or were transformed and very few of them have survived to this day.
El Lagar is a classic example of this ancient way of life, and has been preserved as it has been passed down from generation to generation, for three centuries. It was renovated in 2003, maintaining its original structure and its production elements, such as the press that crushed the grapes, the large clay pots buried in the ground for the wine to ferment.
The accommodation consists of two houses that are always rented to the same group; one of them, La Casa Grande, is the one that has been converted into a small museum that preserves the means of making wine integrated into a large room.
The big house:
- Ground floor: Large living room with fireplace in which the elements of the old press are preserved. Equipped kitchen: refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, oven, kettle, blender, juicer, coffee maker. One bedroom: with a double bed and a complete bathroom with a bathtub.
-On the 1st floor we find: A bedroom with a double bed, fireplace and full bathroom. Another bedroom with two 90 cm beds, fireplace and full bathroom.
The Girl House:
- Ground floor: living room with fireplace and a bedroom with two single beds. There is also a full bathroom with shower.
- On the 1st floor we find: A bedroom with a double bed and a complete bathroom.
Outside the house there is a large garden with a swimming pool and 6 sun loungers next to the barbecue and the outdoor wood-burning oven. The house is also equipped with games for children's entertainment.
It is possible for up to 15 people, 5 of them, in extra beds, placed in different parts of the house.
The accommodation is located 25 km from Málaga, on the edge of the Montes de Málaga natural park, on agricultural land, with a large herd of goats and several horses that graze on the land surrounding the winery.
